How to Help

Ways You Can Help – Become a Member

The Society provides a number of ways you can get directly involved in service to those in need.

The Society is for people who feel a need to improve their Christian life and view the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul as a means to accomplish this end. It requires a compassionate person who sees this service as a way to act on their faith.

There are a number of ways you can get directly involved in service to those in need.

The parish based conferences welcome and appreciate the assistance provided by volunteers. This type of service is perfect for someone who wants to get involved and make a difference but doesn’t feel they can commit on a regular basis at this time. As an auxiliary member you will be helping to turn concern into action and will get to know the Society and the local members.

Full membership is not for everyone as it involves a further level of involvement in terms of time and commitment to participating in the meetings and activities of the Society. These requirements are outlined in our information package for prospective members.

Contact the parish office of your nearest Catholic church or our head office at 240 Church St. to determine if there is an active conference nearby.  You will be directed to the appropriate person to handle your enquiry.

If you are interested in volunteering on a regular or occasional basis in our Special Works, please view the opportunities and requirements in our volunteer handbook.
